Ferguson junior turns to father for Welbeck loan
PRESTON, England (AFP) - Preston manager Darren Ferguson followed the example of many British students Monday in getting a loan from his father, only in his case it was a player rather than money that was on offer.
Ferguson's first signing as Preston boss saw him go to Manchester United, where his father Sir Alex is the manager, to bring Danny Welbeck to Deepdale on loan for the rest of the season.
The 19-year-old forward has gone straight into Preston's squad for Tuesday's second division Championship match against bottom of the table Peterborough - Darren Ferguson's former club - on Tuesday.
Manchester-born Welbeck has scored five goals in 24 appearances for United.
